ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Maximum $1,500
Applicants for the GCEA Academic Scholarship must meet the following eligibility requirements:
  1. Be a member of GCEA
  2. Be a resident of Georgia
  3. Be employed by an active institution (or organization) of continuing or professional education that is based in the State of Georgia
  4. Be employed in the field of professional/continuing education
  5. Be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate academic credit program
  6. Have a written, approved plan of study
  7. Intend to pursue a career in professional/continuing education
  8. Can receive only one Academic Scholarship award

Applicants for the GCEA Academic Scholarship are required to provide the following items to the Scholarship Committee:

  1. Written statement, not to exceed 500 words, describing how applicant’s plan of undergraduate or graduate study is related to personal career goals and his/her commitment to the field of professional/continuing education.
  2. Copy of approved plan for undergraduate or graduate study and academic transcripts of previous college work
  3. Resume which includes: a. Education b. Employment c. Honors and awards d. Community service and related activities
  4. Three letters of recommendation from:
    Current supervisor
    Current internal professional colleague (within organization)
    Current external professional colleague (not within organization)
  5. Amount requested (maximum of $1,500).
  6. ist other funding sources that will assist in paying for the academic program.

The GCEA Academic Scholarship is awarded solely on the basis of outstanding merit.  Specific criteria for selection are as follows:

POINTS

0-10 Experience with professional/continuing education
0-10 Future potential for service and leadership in professional/continuing education
0-5 Awards and honors in the field of professional/continuing education

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:

Applicants for the GCEA Professional Development Scholarships must meet the following eligibility requirements:
  1. Be a member of GCEA
  2. Be a resident of Georgia
  3. Be employed by an active institution (or organization) of continuing or professional education that is based in the State of Georgia
  4. Be employed in the field of professional/continuing education
  5. Can receive one award per year

Applicants for the Professional Development Scholarships are required to provide the following items to the Scholarship Committee:

  1. Description of the program (may be a printed brochure describing the program).
  2. Written statement, not to exceed 500 words, describing how the program will enhance their job performance in the field of professional/continuing education or leadership ability to GCEA.
  3. Resume which includes:
    a. Education
    b. Employment
    c. Honors and awards
    d. Community service and related activities
  4. Amount requested (maximum of $500)
  5. List other funding sources that will assist in paying for the professional development program
